Therefore, we must consider supplementing our pets with natural mineral sources and not pills. Natural Celtic Sea Salt™ is a most basic condiment as well as a staple food. This sea salt is obtained from the evaporation of the ocean's water without synthetic chemicals. No synthetic supplement can equal the wealth of minerals that natural Celtic Sea Salt™ supplies, regardless of how rich the synthetic's content or how precisely it is formulated.16
Celtic Sea Salt™ is harvested in Brittany, near the Celtic Sea in the northwest of France. |
| ENZYMES IN FOOD
By supplementing with exogenous enzymes to the diet, a number of benefits occur. First, enhanced enzymatic digestion in the stomach results in increased digestion and absorption of nutrients with less undigested product passing with the stool.11 Other benefits include larger litters, better weight management, improved skin condition, resistance to stress, and decreased food sensitivities and allergies.12'13

Essential Fatty Acids
Fish oils and flax seed oil are the best sources for supplementing omega-3 fatty acids. Other sources with omega-3 have too much omega-6 content to improve the ratio between omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.
There are numerous products containing fish liver and flax seed oils. Fish oils may have contaminants or a high percentage of oxidized fats. For cost per unit dose, and considering the stringent production requirements of omega-3 fatty acids, we use Dale Alexander's emulsified Norwegian cod liver oil. |

Travel Free from the Nausea of Motion Sickness
Airsick. Carsick. Seasick. Whatever you call motion sickness, one thing's for sure—you're definitely sick. You can turn pale, break out in a cold sweat, and just feel miserable. But the worst symptom by far is the intense nausea, which means that wherever you're traveling, the contents of your stomach may have their own Estimated Time of Arrival: Immediately.
You feel so awful because your brain has been double-crossed. |

This is also a more economical way of supplementing, as it would cost just slightly more to purchase a whole-food supplement than it would to purchase a singular supplement.
Some may have concerns about the use of products made by less reputable companies who may not include all the ingredients listed on the label. In 1999, the Center for Dietary Supplement Research in Botanicals at the University of California at Los Angeles found that, most often, supplements do contain the ingredients that they advertise. |

Ninety-two percent of the non-Bi2 supplementing, primarily live-food vegans were B12 deficient. This seemed to increase with the amount of time as a vegan. There are no studies that show that vegans do not get B12 deficient over time.
The conclusion from the present research is that: it is a reasonably safe bet that about 80% of the vegan and live-food population, within six to ten years, runs the risk of a subclinical or clinical B12 deficiency and increased homocysteine levels. Perhaps over a thirty- to fifty-year span it may reach 100%. |

In addition, he was supplementing his diet with several important natural medicinal tonics, including ginseng and Ginkgo biloba. He was also taking high amounts of the important memory-enhancing nutrient lecithin, which, as noted earlier, is the nutritional precursor of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, the primary chemical carrier of memory.
He was getting some exercise, staying mentally active, and trying to keep his stress under control.
His daughter, he said, was still hesitant about him trying complementary medicine, so he preferred to continue his own self-managed program. |

Seidman recommends supplementing at higher levels for three key B vitamins: thiamin, niacin, and B12.
"Some patients find that thiamin supplements relieve their tinnitus,"
Dr. Seidman says. The nutrient may work by "stabilizing the nervous system, especially the nerves of the inner ear," he says. He recommends 100 to 500 milligrams a day, taken with your doctor's approval and supervision.
Niacin may work by improving the circulation to the cochlea, or inner ear. "Many patients with tinnitus who have used niacin have had significant benefit," says Dr. Seidman. |

| Many men will restore a proper balance of testosterone to estrogen just through supplementing their diets with zinc," Dr. Shippen says.
He recommends 50 milligrams twice a day until you see an improvement in your symptoms, which might take a month or two, at which point you should reduce your intake to 30 to 50 milligrams daily.
VITAMIN C: Low Levels Are a Midlife Risk
When the body's level of vitamin C is low, levels of aromatase are high, possibly leading to lowered testosterone, Dr. Shippen says. He recommends 1,000 to 3,000 milligrams of vitamin C a day for a month or two. |

Most of us take in too much salt, not enough magnesium, and usually (though not always) the right amounts of calcium and potassium. "Supplementing with magnesium can be very helpful," he says. Take 1,000 milligrams daily in divided doses, or less if it produces diarrhea, but be sure to talk to your doctor before taking supplements.
Dr. Milowe also recommends enriching your diet with more omega-3 fatty acids, which are heart-healthy nutrients with an anti-hypertensive effect. You can get them from fish, shellfish, and flaxseed. |

• Periodically do the following: the Liver Flush and Purifying Diet or an intestinal cleansing program.
NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTS
• Use vitamin C (up to 1,000 milligrams three times a day) and bioflavonoids, such as hesperidin, hesperidin methyl chalcone, and naringin (600 to 900 milligrams a day combined). |
| Anyone with blood sugar-related problems, sugar craving, coronary or other atherosclerotic involvement, and/or cholesterol and triglyceride elevations should consider supplementing chromium.
Elemental, inorganic chromium salts, such as those that plate the bumper on your car, cannot be used by the body. Only the organic complex form of chromium— glucose tolerance factor (GTF), which contains cofactors of niacin and glutamic acid—is biologically active. |

I recommend a refrigerated lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus supplement which most health food stores and some pharmacies carry in powder, liquid, and capsule form. For the powdered lactobacillus products, take initially Vi to 1 teaspoon two to three times a day, preferably thirty minutes before a meal or well between meals. |

PRECAUTIONS
Pregnant women and nursing mothers should avoid supplementing with colloidal minerals.
Those with hemochromatosis or those with any condition of iron overload should avoid colloidal mineral supplementation. Iron is one of the richest minerals in these supplements.
Those with hepatolenticular degeneration (Wilson's disease) should avoid colloidal mineral supplementation because of the presence of copper in these supplements.
Those who do use colloidal minerals should refrigerate the bottle after opening. |

| Prozac and the other SSRIs produce this effect by chemically supplementing the body's own adrenalin through forcing the glands via an increase in 5HT serotonin to drastically increase their own production of the glandular version of amphetamine - adrenalin. Prozac or any SSRI should also logically produce the same mental and physical side effects associated with the use of steroids. Once again, the only difference is that these drugs accomplish this by artificially forcing or chemically increasing the body's own steroid production. |
