In fact, a folic acid deficiency is associated with many types of cancer, and supplementing it has repeatedly been shown to reverse cervical dysplasia, a precancerous growth in the cervix. A small but pioneering study done some 10 years ago showed that supplementation with folic acid significantly decreased precancerous lung cells in smokers. Folic acid is a B vitamin found in fresh, leafy, dark green vegetables such as spinach and kale, turnips, endive, asparagus, wheat bran, yeasts, and liver.

Refer to pages 84-85 for detailed information on how to choose an EFA supplement. Bee Remedies Bee pollen may give some people relief, but try just a little bit first in case you are one of the few who are allergic to it. If you can buy fresh local honey at a farmer's market or health food store, you can try that instead. The local pollens in the honey can desensitize your hay fever reactions.

For women who do not have cancer, or who are in remission from cancer, supplementing with natural progesterone is easy and safe. Instructions on how and when to apply the cream are provided with each product, as well as in Dr. Lee's and other books on natural progesterone. However, for women who are dealing with active cancer (especially those with large and aggressive tumors), seeking the guidance of a physician or holistic practitioner is recommended.

Taking small amounts of estrogen right around the time of menopause can also help prevent the large drop in bone density seen around that time, so if you are at risk for osteoporosis it might be worth supplementing it for a few years. But it's more important to also use progesterone cream, which will actually build bone. Please don't think of estrogen as a long-term replacement hormone unless you're very thin. Your fat cells and adrenal glands will make what you need, and you're getting dosed with it every time you're exposed to pesticides and plastics, which for most of us is many times daily.

As Dr. Lee stated, this practice not only can cause fatal breast cancer and uterine cancer, but as we shall see later on, it can also cause fatal ovarian cancer. Let's start by discussing water in your diet. It is important that we take in sufficient water for the smooth functioning of our metabolic processes, and especially to flush away their end products. In normal health and on a diet that includes fresh fruits and vegetables, an additional fluid intake of about a quart daily is usually adequate.

Calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D are very important for regaining pH balance, and in particular, many people find that supplementing with a coral calcium product helps immensely. Of the various coral calcium products on the market today, the "marine harvested" and "high-grade" versions are probably the best. Vitamin D is also added to coral calcium products. Ironically, as we shall see later, synthetic vitamin "supplements" are sometimes better at reducing excess than supplementing deficiency. If negative and inferior foods are removed from the diet according to the first two priorities above, then steps 3 and 4 (supplementing and reducing) tend to occur as a consequence, and there is far less need for supplementation with vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and isolated nutrients. Even though it is clear that supplements have merit, it is questionable if they are ever truly necessary when diet is optimal.

Thus, many women have reported great relief from their PMS symptoms after they started supplementing their bodies with natural progesterone. So, it is a direct result of women being the child-bearing sex that initially sets them up for a roller-coaster ride with their hormones. Women's bodies must be able to switch between two drastically different modes ? gestation and non-gestation—and these different modes require different hormones being dominant at different times. Men don't have to switch between these different modes, and so their hormone balance is easier for their bodies to maintain.

An association has been made between low thyroid function and breast cancer; as a source of iodine and other trace minerals, sea vegetables provide optimal nutrition for the thyroid gland. The high content of potassium in seaweed is good for the heart and kidneys. The iodine in seaweed aids in weight loss also. Seaweed nourishes membranes, making it good for nervous disorders, skin conditions, colds, and constipation.

I produced a TV infomercial interviewing an author who was giving his opinions about the potential health benefits of supplementing your diet with calcium. I then sent this infomercial to the FTC. I telephoned the FTC on several occasions. I wrote the FTC several letters. I sent several e-mails. I kept asking the FTC if they had any issues with my television commercial promoting the product coral calcium.
I believe that these two specific deficiencies lead to a variety of illness, and by supplementing your diet with these two nutrients you can prevent virtually all illness and disease and cure yourself of most illness and disease. However, there is a big caveat to these statements. I say in my book do not take "vitamin supplements." The reason I say that is because almost all vitamin supplements sold are sold by companies who, just like the drug companies, are only in it for the money. They are selling you vitamins and minerals that are nothing more than dirt and do little, if any, good.
